Luxury Safari- Kenya & Mafia Island

Day 01, Giraffe Manor – Full Board

Upon arrival in Nairobi, proceed through Immigration and Customs. After exiting the Customs & Immigrations Hall, Please look out for a Zoar Tours & Safari’s driver/guide holding a Zoar Tours Banner with your name on it. Our Guide will assist you with your luggage and you’ll be transferred to Giraffe Manor Hotel for relaxation.

Day 02, , Giraffe Manor – Full Board

After breakfast you will be picked by the driver and drive to the Giraffe centre. The Giraffe Center is a wonderful and refreshing experience undertaken during excursions in Nairobi. Nairobi Giraffe Centre tour gives a completely up close and personal interaction where guests have the opportunity to view giraffes as well as feed them. This evening you will have a private sponsorship visit to the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage for orphaned elephants. You will see the elephants being fed and playing. In addition, there is a keeper there who will give a talk about the elephants, where they came from, how they are getting on, and how some of the previous orphans are progressing. In the evening return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 03, Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp – Full Board

After breakfast you will be transferred to Wilson airport to catch your flight to Samburu National Reserve where upon arrival you will be met in your 4X4 open land cruiser and transferred to Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp. This afternoon you'll have a game drive to view unusual species rarely seen outside of this region. Grevy’s zebra with its distinctive narrow striped, Reticulated giraffe with its geometric pattern, the shy long-necked Gerenuk which stands erect on its hind legs to feed on the tender leaves of the high tree branches, and the Blue-necked Somali ostrich, among a variety of others. The land of rocky soil and scrubland, Bird enthusiasts will be rewarded with a wealth of species attracted to the palm tree-lined permanent waters of the river. Photographers will appreciate the dramatic backdrop of Ololokwe Mountain. We'll eagerly search for leopards lounging high on tree limbs.



Day 04, Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp – Full Board

Today you will have game drives as scheduled by the Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp. All meals and overnight at Samburu intrepids Tented Camp. Travelling through the landscape which is rugged and dramatic - against a backdrop of volcanic mountains, gaunt hills and withered scrub tree punctuate the sparse and dry terrain with clusters of the incredibly hardy desert rose providing the occasional flash of vivid color.

The Ewaso Nyiro River, lifeline of the area, runs along the southern boundary dividing Samburu from Buffalo Springs Reserve. Crocodile and hippo share the river with the many small herds of elephant which bathe and frolic in the muddy brown waters during the heat of the day before returning later to browse on the lush vegetation of the riverine forest. Buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and plains game may also be seen but a special feature of this Reserve. Over 50 species of large mammals including reticulated giraffe, grevys zebra, Beisa Oryx, Somali ostrich, hippo, crocodiles, gerenuk, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena. Large flocks of helmeted and vulturine guinea fowls are a common attraction.

Day 05, Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp – Full Board

Today you will have morning and evening game drives and activities as planned by Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp. Guests at Samburu Intrepids can enjoy game drives in Samburu game reserve and the adjoining Buffalo Springs game reserve where you will see the natural spring pool believed to have medicinal properties.

Day 06, Lewa Safari Camp – Full Board

Today after breakfast you will drive to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and drive to Lewa Safari Camp. The conservancy is home to about 10 percent of Kenya's black rhino population, and the single largest population of Grevy's zebra in the world. Here you will have Game drives in 4x4 Land Cruisers as planned by Lewa Safari Camp. You will have a chance to see Spectacular aquatic antelope known as the Sitatunga, leopards, lions, hyenas and many birdlife species. All meals and overnight at Lewa Safari Camp.

Day 07, Lewa Safari Camp – Full Board

Today you will have full day game drives as planned by Lewa safari camp. You will have a chance to see the many bird species found in Lewa Conservancy. Bird life on the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is prolific, from the impressive Ostrich to the soaring Falcons to the humble sunbirds you will see some of the most hidden gems on you safari at the top of the trees.

Day 08, Mara Intrepids Camp – Full Board

Today after breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Masai Mara national reserve. Upon arrival you will be transferred to Mara Intrepids Luxury Camp. You will have an evening game drive. Maasai Mara is a magnificent landscape of open plains bisected by the Mara River and its tributaries, and punctuated by marshes and forests. Certainly the most frequented game reserve in Kenya, this 650 sq kilometer reserve supports the highest density of game to be seen anywhere.

During the seasonal migrations, Maasai Mara is home to up to a million wildebeest and an equally impressive number of zebras that move into the area from neighboring Serengeti National Park, in Tanzania. The reserve is home to all the “big five” and it is also possible to observe; baboon, eland, ostrich, bat-eared fox, jackal and cheetah. The rivers abound with hippos and crocodiles. Maasai Mara topography creates a unique bio-diverse area, providing guests with the opportunity to venture into the savannah covered with hundreds or even thousands of animals of many different species.

Day 09, Mara Intrepids Camp – Full Board

Enjoy the entire day in the Maasai Mara with early morning game drive, optional balloon safari at an extra cost and an afternoon game drive. The Mara is also noted for its abundance of lions - particularly the superb black manned males. You'll see lots of elephants here often in large herds, as well as - if you're lucky - leopard, cheetah and rhino. All of the Big Five are residents. You're sure to see the African buffalo. Get the cameras ready, stock up on film and enjoy yourselves! All Meals and overnight is at Mara Intrepids Tented Camp. The Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya’s most precious wildlife sanctuary. This is big game country and long famed as one of Africa’s greatest concentrations of game. Plains game is found here in staggering numbers, which in turn supports a tremendous predator population

Day 10, Mara Intrepids Camp – Full Board

Morning and afternoon game drives – Everything is big in Mara. Wildlife include: buffalo, giraffe, hippo, warthog and antelope (bushbuck, Dik-dik, duiker, eland, gazelle, hartebeest, impala, klipspringer, kudu, oribi, reedbuck, roan antelope, topi, waterbuck and wildebeest The so-called "Big Five" are Buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Lion and Rhinoceros. The "Big Nine" extends this to include Cheetah, Zebra, Giraffe and Hippo. An impressive feature is the annual migration of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles from the plains of the Serengeti that cross the Tanzanian border and rivers to reach the Mara's grasslands from late June, tracked by predators: lion, leopard, cheetah, and hyena, and circled by vultures as their journey unfolds. Their dramatic river crossings are a reality - Tonight you will dream of the wonders of Africa

Day 11, Departure - Farewell Dinner

Breakfast and then fly to Nairobi where you will be transferred to a day room in Fairview Hotel. In the evening, you will drive to the famous Carnivore Restaurant for Dinner. The Carnivore is considered ‘Africa's Greatest Eating Experience. A variety of meats including a selection of exotic meat is roasted over charcoal and carved at your table on traditional Maasai swords (skewers). Delicious side dishes and an exceptional array of sauces complement this fixed price feast that also includes soup, a selection of desserts and Kenyan coffee. Set in attractive tropical gardens, the service and the décor are outstanding. After dinner transfer to the airport for your International flight home.

Day 11, Fairview Hotel – Bed & Breakfast

Breakfast and then fly to Nairobi where you will be transferred to Fairview Hotel. In the evening, you will drive to the famous Carnivore Restaurant for Dinner. The Carnivore is considered ‘Africa's Greatest Eating Experience. A variety of meats including a selection of exotic meat is roasted over charcoal and carved at your table on traditional Maasai swords (skewers). Delicious side dishes and an exceptional array of sauces complement this fixed price feast that also includes soup, a selection of desserts and Kenyan coffee.Set in attractive tropical gardens, the service and the décor are outstanding. After dinner you will be transferred back to Fairview Hotel for Overnight - Tomorrow your second leg of the Safari Begins!!

Day 12, Mafia Kisini lodge / Pole Pole Eco Resort - Full Board

This Morning, you will be transferred to the Airport for your scheduled flight to Dar-es-salam where upon arrival; you will connect with your flight to Mafia island. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel and the rest of the day will be at leisure with optional activities to choose from.The sea around Mafia Island hosts an outstanding mosaic of tropical marine habitat including coral reefs, sea grass beds, mangroves, inter-tidal flats reef flats, lagoons and coastal forest.

These are nesting sites for Green and Hawksbill turtles while Leatherback, Olive Ridlely and Loggerhead also occur in Mafia. Sharks, barracuda grouper, needlefish, moray eels and triggerfish are also prominent in these waters. Also Toperdo shaped and robust yellow-fin tuna, cobia manta rays and sting rays, swordfish, black marlins and wahoo are Mafia Island wildlife seen in the Marine Park.

Day 12, 13, 14 & 15 Mafia Kisini lodge / Pole Pole Eco Resort - Full Board

For these 4 days, full day’s at leisure with various optional activities to choose from including. The warm, colourful waters of the Indian Ocean surrounding Mafia Island provide an ideal location for many sea activities Enjoy some of the best diving and snorkeling there is off the East African coast exploring the many coral reefs that are teaming with tropical marine life. There are also the options of sport fishing, walking or biking on the nature trails, and other beach activities that can be enjoyed.

Day 15, Farewell

Morning is at leisure. After lunch you will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight to Dar - es - Salaam. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport where you will connect with your outbound flight back home.
