Day 01: Des Milles Collines - Bed and Breakfast

After your arrival at the Kigali International Airport, you will be met by Zoar Tours representative who will greet you with an extra ordinary welcome package demonstrating unique service provision in the land of a Thousand Hills Rwanda. With a cool breeze and well lit roads, you will be transferred to your Hotel. Dinner and Overnight: Hotel Des Milles Collines.

Day 02: Akagera Game Lodge – Full Board

Rise and shine and let’s take a two hour drive to the East, enjoying the beautiful sceneries of Rwanda’s hilly landscape, past the coffee and banana plantations, the natural forests also make quite a view. Through Rwamagana Town, which is known for maintaining the old commercial area and the Old Catholic church, past Kibarondo commercial centre, the best starting point to the Akagera National Park, home to the shy Oribi and to the elusive Topi, the undulating hills, rolling grassland and extensive series of lakes linked by papyrus swamps are breathtaking sights. Elephant, buffalo giraffe, Zebra, waterbuck, hippopotamus are some of the game roaming this peaceful haven. The many diverse habitats of the park ensure a remarkable variety of birdlife with over 500 known species. Explore much of this beautiful wildlife haven, as seen from the highlands, the stunning views and scenic grandeur. Lunch: at The Akagera Game Lodge (a la carte). After Lunch, take a ride on the boat, feel the fresh smell of the Ihema lake, you might spot variety of birds. (The Boat ride is optional) Dinner and Overnight: at Akagera Game Lodge.

Day 03: Home Inn Hotel – Full Board

After breakfast, morning game drive exploring more of the Akagera National park, the park with the breezy cultivated hills, and dominated scenically by the labyrinth of swamps and lakes that follow the meandering of the most remote source of the Nile; the Akagera River, and a stop of Tanzania board’s view. After having a memorable game drive, it is time to pack up and depart Akagera enroute to Ruhengeri, where you pass by Lake Muhazi for a well made and palatable meal. Lunch: At Muhazi Beach Resort. After having a nice palatable meal, set off North of Rwanda to Ruhengeri which lies near the twin lakes of Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo. The 4 hour drive takes you through the beautiful terraced hillsides that display Rwanda’s landscape. One can get to have a panorama view of geographic feature of Kigali town. The drive also takes you through Nyabarongo River the dominant geographic feature of Bugesera District, through Ruhengeri town, the gateway city to the Volcanoes National Park and the famous Mountain Gorillas. The summits of Kasirimbi, Bisoke, Sabyniyo, Gahinga and Muhabura, the 5 volcanoes located in Volcanoes National Park give such a scenic and breathe taking view Dinner and Overnight at Home Inn Hotel

Day 04: Kivu Serena Hotel – Bed and Breakfast

After the first light of dawn, we make our way into the Parc National des Volcans it borders Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. Parc National des Volcans is known as the haven for Mountain Gorillas. Hiking and tracking gorillas is arguably the most poignant and memorable wildlife experience in the world and may take 1-8 hours. Sight and stay with the Gorillas for one hour tracking the gorillas through the unique vegetation can take several hours of challenging walking in wet and muddy conditions. To see a gorilla the trek will have been worth the hardship. Lunch: at Home Inn HotelAfter the unforgettable encounter with the human being cousins, have lunch, then take a 1 hour drive which brings us to Gisenyi a charming small town built on the shore of Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight: at Kivu Serena Hotel.

Day 05: Peace Guest House – Full Board

After Breakfast, brace yourselves for a long 8 hour drive, as you enjoy the scenic view, of the Rwandan people and the natural beautiful surroundings. Make a stop at Kibuye for Lunch, and then proceed to Cyangugu. Lunch: at a chosen restaurant in Kibuye. After lunch, proceed to Cyangugu where on the way you will have a beautiful view of Lake Kivu, the biggest lake in Rwanda. Dinner and overnight: at Peace Guest House

Day 06: Nyungwe Forest Lodge – Full Board

After breakfast, take a little rest in the lodge as you get ready to check out, or take a state tour round the Cyangugu town, to the Congo border, as you enjoy the presence of the local people. Later take a drive using the earth road to Nyungwe Forest. Check-in and have lunch as you enjoy the sounds from the forest. Lunch: Nyungwe forest Lodge Nyungwe forest top is known as the great chimp classic destination for Africa and a place where tourists are the first priority of the park. Chose the primate trail to search for the chimps, it is a great activity of chimp tracking for over 500 primates. Venture into this beautiful haven with stunning views and scenic grandeur are the hallmark of this natural wonder, spot the alluring primates including the human kind closest living relative Chimpanzee, the avian highlight of Nyungwe the great blue turaco an outlandish blue, red and green bird which streams from tree to tree like a procession of streamlined psychedelic turkeys Dinner and Overnight: Nyungwe forest lodge.

Day 07: Hotel Ibis – Full Board

After breakfast, Take a canopy walk, you will be at relatively high elevation, so be sure to bring water, wear good hiking shoes with support, and bring warm clothing in layers to accommodate temperature changes. Any dedicated birdwatchers might never want to leave! After the mind blowing venture, depart to Butare, via Kibeho, a small town well known for reported apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ occurring between 1981 and 1989 to some teenagers. These visions were accompanied by intense reactions: crying, tremors, and comas. In August 19, 1982, those who saw the visions reported gruesome sights (rivers of blood, sliced heads, etc.) which some today regard as an ominous foreshadowing of the Rwandan Genocide of 1994, and particularly in that specific location. Get a chance to stand on The Holy Ground and whatever you ask for is always granted while in that place. Picnic Lunch, Dinner and overnight: at the Hotel Ibis.

Day 08: Hotel Ibis – Full Board

After breakfast, visit Butare town, an attractively compact and peaceful town with a reputation of being the intellectual and cultural centre of the country. Butare was the largest and most important city in Rwanda prior to 1965, when it lost out to the more centrally located Kigali. However, Butare is still regarded to be the intellectual and cultural pulse of Rwanda. Butare town hosts several academic institutions including the National University,as well as the famous National Museum which houses one of the finest collections in East Africa and displays the rich cultural history of the Rwandan people. The museum is the finest ethnographic museum of East-Africa. It reflects well the time spirit at the end of 19th Century when the East-African Kingdoms came in contact with the first Europeans. Lunch at Hotel Ibis, Dinner and overnight: at the Hotel ibis.

Day 09: Kigali Serena Hotel – Half Board

Leave the hotel to Kigali (135 Km) via Royal Palace at Nyanza, the traditional seat of Rwanda’s king, an enormous domed construction made entirely with traditional materials, has been painstakingly restored to its 19th century state and is now maintained as a museum. After visiting king’s palace you continue to Gatagara where you visit pottery products. During your trip, over stops are provided for taking the photos of any attractive Natural feature. Lunch at a chosen Restaurant in Gitarama. After the visits to these unique, and important places, proceed to Kigali, as you enjoy more views of a thousand hills, you will be dropped off at Kigali Serena Hotel. Dinner and Overnight: at the Kigali Serena Hotel.

Day 10: Kigali Serena Hotel – Half Board

After an unforgettable encounter, you will be picked from your hotel, take a city tour to visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Centre where the remains of more than 250,000 people have been gathered from different districts of Kigali and buried in the cemetery of this memorial site; the military memorial of the 10 Belgian troopers assacred during the genocide, a visit to the local market for hand crafts and other pleasing and unique souvenirs will catch your eyes. Later transfer to the airport for a Departure Flight.
